Managing Job Opportunities
In CareerTrackr, job applications are tracked as “Opportunities” - this includes jobs you’re interested in, have applied to, or are interviewing for.
Adding a New Opportunity
Quick Add
- Click “Opportunities” in the main navigation
- Click “Add Opportunity” button
- Fill in the required fields:
- Job Title (required)
- Company (required - select existing or create new)
- Status (defaults to “Prospective”)
- Click “Create Opportunity”
Detailed Information
After creating, you can add:
- Location & Remote Type: Office location and remote work options
- Department: Engineering, Marketing, Sales, etc.
- Salary Range: Min and max salary expectations

Important Dates:
- Posted Date: When the job was posted
- Deadline: Application deadline
- Applied Date: Automatically set when status changes to “Applied”
- Job Description: Full description (or use AI to fetch from URL)
- Notes: Your private notes about the role
- Recruiters: Link any recruiters involved
AI-Powered Job Description Import (Pro Feature)
Instead of copying/pasting job descriptions:
- Copy the job posting URL
- In the opportunity form, paste the URL
- Click “Fetch Description”
- AI extracts and formats the job details
Opportunity Statuses
Track your progress with these statuses:
- Prospective: Jobs you’re considering but haven’t applied to
- Applied: Application submitted
- Screening: Recruiter/phone screen stage
- Interviewing: In the interview process
- Offer: Received an offer
- Rejected: Application rejected
- Withdrawn: You withdrew your application
Status changes are tracked with timestamps for analytics.

- Companies are shared across opportunities
- View all opportunities at a company from the company page
- Track your history with each employer
By Status
- Filter opportunities by status
- See all active applications at a glance
- Archive closed opportunities
Search and Filter
- Search by job title, company, location, or description

- Sort by date applied, deadline, or last activity

Add Recruiters
- Link recruiters working on this opportunity
- Track multiple recruiters for the same role

- Link communications to opportunities

Tips for Success
Before Applying
- Set status to “Prospective” while researching
- Add notes about why you’re interested
- Research the company and add to notes
After Applying
- Change status to “Applied”
- Note which resume/cover letter version you used

- Update status as you progress
- Log every interaction as a communication
